WYSIWYG

Ricordea florida corals, a type of mushroom coral, are highly sought-after for their vibrant coloration and unique bubble-like tentacle structure that gives them a striking, textured appearance. Native to the Caribbean, these soft corals are hardy, adaptable, and an excellent choice for both beginner and advanced reef aquarists. Ricordea florida thrive in low to moderate lighting, though higher light levels can bring out more vivid colors, and they prefer low to moderate, indirect water flow that allows them to expand fully without being disturbed. Ideal aquarium parameters include a stable temperature of 76–80°F (24–27°C), salinity at 1.025 specific gravity, pH between 8.1–8.4, alkalinity of 8–12 dKH, calcium levels of 400–450 ppm, and magnesium between 1250–1350 ppm. While primarily photosynthetic, they benefit from supplemental feedings of small meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, or finely chopped seafood to promote faster growth and enhanced coloration. Ricordea florida are peaceful corals and can be placed near other soft corals without issue, though they should still be given enough room to expand. With stable conditions and occasional feeding, they can thrive and become a colorful, eye-catching highlight in any reef aquarium.
