It’s not every day a new torch variant is discovered in this hobby. Well, HGC is please to have to honor of being the first to introduce the HGC Unicorn Tails torch to the hobby. 

What makes this torch unique? For starters, it’s the only gold torch we’ve seen with multicolor tips. This beauty has pink and blue tips. Additionally, its tentacles have just about every color torches come in. Purple, green, and gold. A truly unique torch that we are excited to share with you! 

Torch corals (Euphyllia glabrescens) are popular large polyp stony (LPS) corals known for their long, flowing tentacles and vibrant colors, which add dynamic movement and beauty to saltwater aquariums. These corals are relatively hardy but require moderate care to thrive. Torch corals prefer moderate to high lighting, typically provided by LED or T5 fixtures, and moderate water flow that keeps their tentacles gently waving without being blasted.

Ideal water parameters include a stable temperature of 76–80°F (24–27°C), salinity around 1.025 specific gravity, pH between 8.1–8.4, alkalinity at 8–12 dKH, calcium levels of 400–450 ppm, and magnesium between 1250–1350 ppm.

Regular feeding with meaty foods or coral-specific supplements can support growth, though they also rely on photosynthesis via their symbiotic zooxanthellae.

Adequate space must be provided between torch corals and other species, as their long sweeper tentacles can sting neighboring corals. With proper placement and stable water conditions, torch corals can be a stunning and relatively resilient addition to a reef tank.
